Pea Island & Alligator River National Wildlife Refuges

NC Highway 12 continues to be an issue, but I have it on good authority that the Pea Island Refuge Visitor's center on the north end of Hatteras Island has re-opened for business.  Accesible only from the north.  If you can't venture down there, be sure to visit the new Alligator River/ Pea Island combined visitors' center on Roanoke Island.

 

The gift shop has lots of great presents for the wildlife enthusiast on your list! Books, attire, bird calls, great educational gifts for kids, and of course my stained glass birds.  $10 from each black skimmer purchased through my website will be donated to Coastal Wildlife Refuge Society to help clean up the mess Hurricane Sandy left.

 

Please visit the new visitors' center on Roanoke Island, just outside of Manteo, near the Elizabethan Gardens on the way toward Mann's Harbor on your left.
